This post has been a long time coming and I’m really, really sorry for not making it sooner.
As you’ve probably guessed the travelling camera club experiment is over.
The travelling camera club came into my life at one of its most difficult times and I got overwhelmed.
The travelling camera club works really well at a small level, when you have one or two active routes because your depending on 10 super motivated people who want the project to succeed.
The problem was the project didn’t scale well at all, suddenly we were trying to organise over 50 people, many of whom would drop out because of the long wait for the camera to arrive, or would receive it and wouldn’t pass it on and god knows how many other problems came up.
That level of organisation is manageable when its a small group of dedicated people who are willing to put the time and money into making it work but once that number grows past a certain point its just overwhelming.
So I burnt out (this was happening along side personal problems that don’t excuse it).
I didn’t know how to respond because a part of me thought we could rework the project and bring it back, another part of me felt it was over so I just disappeared.
To say it was unprofessional was an understatement and I’ve felt guilty about it for a long time, the longer I left it the harder it became to make the post.
So all I can offer is my most sincere apology to all of you who offered me so much support.
I am deeply sorry for letting you down.
